Dr. S. S. Dhaka

Dr. S.S. Dhaka was born in 1962 and obtained his M.A. in Political Science in 1983 from Jawaharlal Nehru University, M.L. I. Sc in 1988 and Ph. D (Lib. & Inf. Science) in 2002 from University of Delhi. He started his career at National Museum of India, New Delhi as Assistant Librarian in 1988. He joined Rajdhani College, University of Delhi as Librarian in December 1989. After working at Rajdhani College for 17 years, he was appointed Director (Library & Information), Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi in 2007.
He is visiting faculty Meera Bai Polytechnic, Department of Technical Education, Government of NCT of Delhi. He is a life member of Indian Library Association (ILA), Delhi Library Association (DLA), IASLIC, MANLIBNET and Delhi Mountaineering Association. Dr. Dhaka elected as standing committee member of two sections of IFLA (GIOPS and FAIEF).
Dr. Dhaka visited several countries of Asia, Africa, America and Europe. He has published several papers and three books. He attended the National Library Conference i.e.- Indian Library Association held at Chandigarh in 1997. He also attained International Library Conference i.e.- FID held at New Delhi in 1998 and IFLA held at New Delhi in 1992; Durban (South Africa) in 2007. He attended several national and international conferences held in India and abroad. He actively participated in IFLA activities and elected as Chair of Government Information & Official Publication Section (GIOPS) 2011-2015. Dr. Dhaka is founder President of Asian Library Association. He is also elected as President-elect of Special Library Association’s Asian Chapter.
